Subject: Concern regarding the way I was treated by our Property Manager
To: Louie
Hello Louie
Thank you for taking the time today, to respond to me directly by phone.
As I explained, yesterday I reached out by phone to our Property management team hoping to have a verbal conversation with the current rep for our community.
I was surprised to learn that there was no one other than Amy Taylor to talk with and we do not have a community rep any longer eg. Irys Martinez.
I was told that Amy was available in her office, but instead of talking directly to her, I was put through to her voice mail. I was hoping instead for a call back.
I left a long message trying to explain that i was confused as to why there was no physical ballot accompanying the last mailing and that I was becoming very annoyed to be receiving daily urgent messages from her company regarding voting on the portal. I told her that i was not going to be using the portal to vote. I expressed my concern with burdening us with technology and its complications.
I called to request to be taken off the email blast and to stop using my email for such purposes.
I also stated that I would not be using the portal to vote. The message timed out & I got cut off so i was not able to finish it properly.
Amy chose to respond to my voice message by email rather than a personal voice call to me. This demonstrated that she really did not hear my frustration with email technology, as she continued to pursue her own agenda via further emails rather than solve the problem I was having.
In doing so, she misinterpreted my voice message, she instead heard that i wanted my portal deleted?? Her response was overkill and had she taken the time to fully communicate with me verbally, she would have had a clearer understanding of my problem.
Instead of addressing the problem of sending me a physical ballot she deleted my email and deleted my access to the portal and then refused to call me back!
Please read the emails attached - I continued to ask her to stop emailing me and to please respond to me with the courtesy of a phone call so we could clarify.
Instead she checked up on me by seeing when the last time I used the portal - she attached a recording of my voice mail which she used to further her argument.
I was totally appalled by her lack of customer service and her arrogant, defensive and dismissive style. Keep in mind I reached out to have a conversation with someone not to get sucked into an e-debate.
I am also very concerned by how quickly she escalated the situation and please see her last paragraph which seems to suggest that now I can no longer call the office, but i can send a letter??
Her lack of courtesy and lack of accessibility is unacceptable. It is my opinion that she is choosing to hide behind technology, rather than comply with my request to have a two way verbal conversation which has the ability to clarify and facilitate better communication. This is not the direction I hope we are headed, as we had in the past a community rep at the management company to have verbal communications with.
I have been a homeowner in the Groves since its inception. I recall that this same Property Manager was equally disrespectful in dealing with past board members and members of our community at the last big board meeting/forum when one of our board members walked out.
I will not be able to attend a board meeting until the fall, but I would like to address the board in person at that time and ask that we seek out a new Property Management Company, one that is accessible and gives our homeowners the respect and time to verbally communicate with its homeowners.
In the first sentence in her final email to me, Amy states "The conversation is over!" Last I heard a conversation is a verbal communication between humans. The irony is Amy and I never had a conversation!
This is the first time I personally have had a negative interaction with Amy, however it is not the first time that I have witnessed this behavior towards others. I would appreciate it if you were to share this event with our current board.
Thank you for taking the time to hear my concern and for all the work you do volunteering on the board.
